Understanding How Teledentistry Works

Understanding How Teledentistry Works

When you need an orthodontist, you may begin your search online, checking for locations, qualifications, services, and reviews. That’s a good start, but there are some things the internet can’t tell you.

You’re looking for a place where you instantly love the staff, feel great in the office environment, and most importantly, have confidence in the orthodontist. You can see yourself happily spending the next year or two under their care.

You’ve come to the right place!

If you have crooked teeth, a misaligned bite, or jaw pain, we’d love you to consider Duval Orthodontics for your treatment. Dr. J.A. Duval and our team welcome new patients in and around Warner Robins and Albany, Georgia, and everything we do focuses on you.

In addition to the most advanced technology, state-of-the-art treatments, and one of the state’s most respected and experienced orthodontists, we offer new patients the added advantage of teledentistry for their first consultation.

Although telehealth and teledentistry have been around for years, they soared in popularity during the pandemic and have remained a much-loved benefit for our team and patients — although not all orthodontists still offer this service. Here, Dr. Duval explains how it works.

The nuts and bolts of teledentistry

Teledentistry is a way to “visit” Dr. Duval from a remote location. You can be at home, at work, at school, or on the beach and complete your first consultation with Dr. Duval without sacrificing a chunk of your day.

Using technology, interactive video and audio, and electronic information transfers, we can conduct a thorough meeting and initial exam without requiring your physical presence in our office.

We use four main avenues of communication during your teledentistry appointment:

Depending on what’s needed, Dr. Duval can talk with you in real time, check the status of your case offline, send your dental information to other professionals or colleagues, and relay important educational information to you as needed.

Teledentistry doesn’t replace face-to-face orthodontic appointments that require hands-on treatments. But it does save you some time and money on your consultation, which typically only involves an exchange of information.

The benefits of teledentistry

At Duval Orthodontics, we know your time is valuable and do our best to respect it. That means your appointments are always substantive but never rushed. Our teledentistry service dovetails perfectly with our patient-centered philosophy.

Here are some of the benefits our patients love about teledentistry:

We use the trusted SmileSnap virtual consultation tool to make your teledentistry experience efficient, smooth, and convenient.
